Epilepsy Action Ben Nevis Challenge 10 October 2009
On Saturday 10 October 2009 23 participants successfully reached the summit of Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain (4,406ft) on behalf of Epilepsy Action.
Epilepsy Action is the largest member-led epilepsy organisation in Britain, acting as the voice for the UK's estimated 456,000 people with epilepsy, as well as their friends, families, carers, health professionals and the many other people on whose lives the condition has an impact.
As well as campaigning to improve epilepsy services and raise awareness of the condition, the charity offers assistance to people in a number of ways including a national network of branches, accredited volunteers, regular regional conferences and freephone and email helplines.
This was Charitytrek’s last climb of Ben Nevis for 2009. Only a week earlier we experienced some of the most atrocious weather conditions seen on the Ben this year, however conditions were much more favourable and whilst dull and overcast, the day remained largely dry for their ascent with only a few heavy showers towards late afternoon.
It is anticipated that in excess of £10,000 will have been raised as a result of the group’s efforts.
Well done to everyone who took part from Ian, Alice and the rest of the Charitytrek Team.
